EVENTS IN PRAGUE:

12th May – 4th June – Pražské jaro

The Prague Spring International Music Festival brings 50 concerts of classical music in 17 concert halls, from 12 May to 4 June, 2016. Prague is to welcome 98 orchestras, chamber ensembles, and soloists from 23 countries. If you like first class performances of classical music, jazz, and world music, you should not miss the 71st edition of the Prague Spring International Music Festival. It is the oldest, most famous, and biggest festival in to the number of concerts in the Czech Republic. In 2016, it will offer an excellent blend of tradition and experiment.

13th May – Den proti rakovině

Each year on May 13, the people of Prague bloom with yellow daisy-like flowers and white ribbons. In the subway stations, organizations like Junák, the Czech Boy Scout equivalent, sell faux yellow flowers pinned against white ribbons to passersby for 20 CZK, or less than $1, each. Before noon, it seems at least one in every 10 people has the quarter-sized yellow blossoms pinned onto a shirt, jacket or purse. The spontaneous appearance of the yellow flowers is the result of the efforts of the League Against Cancer Prague. More information about the League, what is the money used for and how to donate now https://www.denprotirakovine.cz/

1st June – Den dětí

The International Day for Protection of Children is observed in many countries as Children's Day on June 1 since 1950. This is a fantastic day for kids in the Czech Republic – lots of options covering all interests and mostly for free.

11th June – Muzejní noc

The thirteenth edition of Prague Museum Night will take place on Saturday 11 June, 2016 starting at 7.00 p.m. and ending at 1.00 a.m. the next day. This popular cultural event, promoting activities of museums and galleries, has been offering a possibility to visit Prague cultural heritage sites at night since 2004. There are 52 museums, galleries and other cultural institutions participating this year, opening 80 unique buildings. There will be free entrance and transport by special Prague Museum Night buses during the thirteenth year of the event. http://www.prazskamuzejninoc.cz/2016/index.php?l=en
