As the school year draws to a close I would like to share with you the project created by the Riverside Boat Building Club: the construction of a 15 foot Glousterman rowing dory (VIDEO BELOW).
Last Wednesday we held a “builders launch” . This is an opportunity for the boat builders to ensure that everything works and the boat is ready for its official launch!
The official launch will take place in September to begin the new season of boat building and to announce the new project.
After waiting for the stormy weather to clear the students launched the boat into the river and bravely climbed in!
What a great experience, as we discussed the shape of the boat and the features that affect stability and the strategies for choosing our next boat design. Thank you to Hannah, Ryan, Vsevolod and Kevin for braving the inclement weather to test the project!
