Riverside School was founded in 1994 by two expatriate families, who had been seeking a suitable school for their children. They made the decision to open their own and found a building on the banks of the Vltava River in a picturesque setting a short distance from the city centre.
Following extensive reconstruction the school opened for Primary aged children under the headship of Simon Beavan, who remained the Principal for the first five years of the school. During this period the school grew to 100 children.
In the years that followed the school extended its provision to offer secondary education. Through expansion the school developed separate sites for Early Years, Primary, Junior High and Senior High.
It developed a Skills for Life Programme, extending outdoor education and Musicians for Life. It opened the Riverside Ranch is an area of natural beauty and offered student supported accommodation.
The current Founders are Sharon Jackson, an original Founder and Brian Thompson, the Chair of the Riverside Board.
Riverside School is a not for profit organisation, an O.P.S. All income generated is channelled back into the school, the Director being the only salaried member of the Board.
