Intermittent showers did little to dampen the spirits of our fearless Slovenia adventure group June 13-20 in the stunning Soča River Valley. Students white-water rafted, kayaked and swam with vigor in crystalline mountain waters. On land, they orienteered past WWI landmarks, ziplined over tree-tops and hiked many dozens of verdant kilometers.
A particularly noticeable accomplishment was a rocky, rigorous trek up the Julian Alps in Triglav National Park, where the group visited a roaring 78m waterfall and rested their weary legs for the night in a mountain hut. As a relaxing reward, they later took a daytrip to Lake Bled for beach time and cream cake.
Special congratulations go to our Duke of Edinburgh participants, who hiked over mountain passes for three days to earn their Silver Award: Sara, Taiki, Nathan, Alex and Marie. Well done!
